n 1986, Mark Hood began Hood Construction Company with a tool belt, a used pickup truck and one employee. The first several years involved renovating offices for local companies. Mark quickly gained a reputation for providing quality work, standing behind his promises, and satisfying clients. This reputation encouraged steady growth during our foundation years, and provided the philosophical basis for our company today. In September, 1989, Hood Construction was proud to be a part of the community that banded together to rebuild South Carolina after the devastation of Hurricane Hugo. This solemn opportunity allowed us to establish relationships built on trust and commitment with many businesses around the state, further defining our dedication to fairness and responsibility to our community. As the company continued to grow, we expanded our services to include new construction, in addition to renovations. We quickly broadened our portfolio in the arenas of medical offices, hotels, restaurants, and other specialized work, doubling our volume annually. By 1995, our clients were entrusting us with a higher volume of increasingly complex projects. After careful evaluation, Hood Construction decided that it was possible to maintain quality work and satisfied clients while taking the production to a higher level to meet demand. Mr. Hood implemented a new growth plan to include building a larger home office, purchasing additional equipment, and hiring a wider variety of specialized industry employees. Today, Hood Construction currently employs approximately 75 full time administrative and field employees. Our safety record remains one of the best in the construction industry.
