
Mark began his career as an Civil Engineering major at The Citadel, which broadened into over 32 years tenure in the commercial construction industry. Founding his own company in 1986, his business philosophies are best displayed by his focus on strategic analysis of the methods and means of the construction and project management process. Mark exemplifies strong professional values, and places client satisfaction and employee safety at the top of every list. He has excelled in creating long-term relationships by consistently working to build winning teams, focused on optimized cost and total quality measures. Mark’s “can do” approach, coupled with high standards in quality and process integrity, serves to facilitate project objectives to the best possible result.
Mark is an active member of the Carolinas AGC, serving as 2011 Executive Board Chairman. Mark’s previous contributions to the CAGC include Executive Board Treasurer, Mechanical Contractors Joint Cooperative Committee member, Director-at-Large Board Member, Chairman of the Building Services Division - as well as serving as Chairman for the Carolinas AGC/AIA Joint Committee. Numerous community affiliations include positions on the Board of Directors for Citizens For Sound Conservation, The Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Hammond School Board of Directors. Mark and his family are long-time members of Shandon Baptist Church, where he currently serves as Deacon, Sunday School Dept. Director, and Personnel & Building

Pete’s formal education began with the study of Engineering at the University of South Carolina. He became the first Honor Graduate of Midlands Technical College, with an Associate of Science degree in Civil Technology. Pete is well known in our community, with a broad background in the construction industry spanning over 40 years. Pete has extensive experience with large structures, and specializes in project management, cost analysis, value engineering, and constructability analysis.
Pete served on the board of the Carolinas Association of General Contractors, the Joint Cooperative Committee of AIA-AGC, the South Carolina State Construction Committee, Midlands Technical College Board of Directors, and as Chairman on the South Carolina Legislative Committee. He is also former President of the Columbia Contractors Association. Pete is a member & Sunday School teacher at Shandon Baptist Church.

Margaret is a native of upstate South Carolina, and has resided in the Columbia area for over 30 years. Her professional background consists of 25 years in corporate management and sales, including several years in information technology, facilities planning and operations. Margaret specializes in business relations, market analysis and strategic planning. She is a graduate of The Columbia Commercial College, where she studied interior design and business management. She continued her education at The University of South Carolina, majoring in Business Administration.
Margaret’s professional affiliations include memberships in the SC Economic Development Association and The Central SC Alliance. She is a graduate of Leadership Columbia and Leadership South Carolina, and participates as an Alumnae member for each. Margaret recently served as Co-Chairperson for the Leadership SC Board of Trustees, and currently serves on the Executive Boards for CREW Midlands and Committee of 100. She formerly served on the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, as Chairperson for Lexington Medical Center's Corporate Round Table and on the Board of Directors for the Palmetto Health Children’s Hospital. She and her family are members of Riverland Hills Baptist Church.


Richard brings over 30 years experience in estimating, scheduling, constructability studies, value engineering and project management. As a 1973 Midlands Technical College graduate in Civil Engineering, Richard has estimated, managed and scheduled over $1 billion in total construction volume. Most recently he has estimated a wide range of public and privately funded projects ranging from $10-30 million.

John earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina. He has over 25 years experience in construction, with a strong background in business management, project supervision, engineering and quality assurance. John previously owned and operated a construction services company where he managed metal roofing and sheet metal contracting for commercial and industrial projects. He is a graduate of the AGC Project Manager’s School, and is working towards his LEED AP designation. John and his family are members of First Presbyterian Church.


Jeremy brings over 15 years successful tenure in our industry. His professional affiliations include memberships in the Association of Independent Contractors, Constructors’ Guild, and Historic Columbia Palladium Society. Jeremy has taken many years of professional development training in the areas of Safety, Cost Control & Productivity, and Supervisory Skills, and holds certification as a Professional Construction Supervisor, as well as Quality Control Certification through the Army Corp. of Engineers. He is currently working towards his Healthcare Construction Project Manager Certification, as well as LEED AP designation.


Thomas adds 11 years of construction field and management experience to our project team, joining Hood Construction full-time in 2004. He earned his Construction Management degree from Georgia Southern University, and is currently working towards his LEED AP designation. Thomas has volunteered the past 15 summers with Salkehatchie Summer Service, a Methodist construction program that helps improve homes of needy families across South Carolina.
