Featured Project: Peninsula Grill & Planters Inn

Industry: Restaurant/Hospitality
Scope: Historic

Location: Charleston, SC
Project Size: 17,500

The Peninsula Grill and Planters Inn, in historic downtown Charleston, South Carolina, are highly-visible and well known fixtures in this heavily-traveled tourism district. The Peninsula Grill consisted of a complete historic retrofit for 5-Star Restaurant and Conference Room, to include guest dining, bar and lounge, as well as full-service state-of-the-art kitchen. Special features include high-end fabric wallcoverings, and distressed features -- to compliment the charm of Charleston’s Historic District. Peninsula Grill is located at, and owned by, the Planters Inn -- a project which consisted of a free-standing historical in-fill annex to the original Planters Inn, located in historic downtown Charleston. Construction included the addition of 22 new guest rooms, hotel conference/meeting rooms, and street side retail rental space. This challenging site had no lay down area and required careful procurement of materials and equipment. In addition, an aggressive nine-month schedule was met for the Inn's incoming seasonal guests.
