Subcontractor Outreach and Diversity

Since its inception, Hood Construction has worked to intentionally and synergistically build an environment of open communication and quality teamwork within all local subcontractor and supplier networks. Our firm is highly regarded within the subcontractor marketplace — most often considered a preferred Construction Management ‘firm of choice’ — with a reputation of professional, principled and fair business practices. Regular feedback describes our jobsites as being extremely well-run, friendly but efficient, with a no-nonsense policy regarding safety and ‘doing it right’. Our subcontracting community also appreciates our financial strength and on-time payment practices, which promotes our receipt of preferred and highly competitive pricing — and ensures that operational progress flows uninterrupted and smooth at all levels.

Hood Construction doesn’t lose sight of the fact that our company’s own modest beginnings were, in fact, quite small — and we therefore hold a strong supportive belief in including small, disadvantaged and minority businesses in our project activities. Throughout the years, our firm has come to recognize the true value of proactively developing and expanding an inclusive network of all reliable, creative and cost effective subcontracting partners. So much so, that we’ve developed and funded numerous professional training and safety seminars (free of charge) for our subcontracting network to utilize — training which may otherwise not have been readily available to many small but valuable trades. Also, where feasible, we work to detail project scopes into smaller packages to assist in providing additional opportunities to SWMBE businesses – while working diligently to maintain and expand our database of Small, Disadvantaged and Minority Businesses by regularly participating in SWMBE Outreach Programs.

Not only have these efforts progressively assisted toward growing best practice knowledge, risk awareness and expanded skill-sets in multiple trades — but each firm has ultimately come to feel a more viable part of our local industry, as a whole. It’s the kind of investment in people that our firm really feels good about!
