Spotlight: McNAIR Center for Aerospace Innovation and Research

“To support South Carolina’s soaring aerospace industry, the University of South Carolina established the McNAIR Center for Aerospace Innovation and Research in 2011. Located in Columbia, S.C., the Center is focused on aerospace-related education, research, K-12 STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) support, workforce development and industry engagement.

Featuring a research team of more than 30 faculty in the mechanical, chemical, civil and electrical engineering fields, the Center aims to advance the state’s knowledge-based economy through aerospace research, interdisciplinary education, economic development, outreach and collaboration with aerospace and allied industries, as well as related government agencies.

As Team South Carolina seeks to further develop our thriving aerospace sector, it’s clear that the McNAIR Center will play a large role. After all, it’s the collaborative efforts like this, that have helped us become a state that truly is ‘Just right’ for aerospace.”
