1801 Grille is an eatery located on the Univeristy of South Carolina campus, across from the Colonial Life Arena. The L-shaped space has two distinct seating areas; A more formal space with a mixture of tables and two wall-length booths, and an informal bar area with an indoor/outdoor patio complete with roll-up garage-style glass doors. A private dining room was also included with glass sliding doors for flexibility. An open kitchen and expediting station is adjacent to the brick oven and custom bar, which also features hand-painted accent mirrors. A back prep kitchen and restrooms were also included.
This up-fit took place within an occupied residential mid-rise building, next door to existing retail establishments. Extensive pre-construction services were performed to ensure all of the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing requirements for the restaurant space be installed within the parameters of the existing buildingís structure.
