Rollins Edwards Community Center
Municipal
Project Summary
Hood Construction was selected to complete the refurbishment and repurposing of the old Summerville National Guard Armory into the new Rollins Edwards Community Center. The 14,800 SF building had been abandoned for many years, and stood in a significant state of disrepair.
The scope of the project included masonry and window upgrades, to include structural code revisions, as required — along with extensive site work — and complete demolition of existing walls, finishes and MEP’s. The revised space plan includes a new MEP & sprinkler system, as well as all new walls and partitions, casework, millwork, flooring, doors & hardware, and other interior finishes.
The result was a wonderful success: A beautifully transformed abandoned building into a high-functioning / high-demand asset, providing a much-needed state-of-the-art multi-purpose recreation and event center in the heart of Summerville.
