Sally Reahard Visitors Center – Drayton Hall

Historic Renovation

Project Summary

The Sally Reahard Visitor Center is a new facility with welcome area, museum shop, and orientation hall, located on the historic site of Drayton Hall. The center is also home to a museum-grade gallery space with all lighting, mechanical units, and cabinetry meeting the museum-grade standard.

Due to the sensitive nature of this site, with a Nationally Registered Historic home & grounds, and monumental trees, all along the Ashley River, Hood worked closely with the owner to develop a construction logistics plan that would be minimally disruptive to both the grounds and Drayton HallĂs daily visitors on tours. Close coordination with the BAR was also required. The individual buildings are connected with beautiful hardscaped walkways, which also surround the center monumental live oak, situated between the visitor center structures.
