USC Energy Plants

Higher Ed

Project Summary

Hood Construction has worked on the North, South, East, and West Energy Plants on the campus of the University of South Carolina over the past two decades. Most recently, our team completed extensive upgrades to the North Energy Plant, which included running pipes underneath Blossom Street, located in a heavily active pedestrian environment. Numerous improvements were also made to the interior and exterior of the structure.

Renovations at the other plants consisted of an addition to an existing energy plant including a cast-in-place concrete basement and an elevated floor slab in preparation for a new chiller and boiler system.
